E-2 (SS-25)

While undergoing a scheduled overhaul at the New York Navy Yard, an explosion occurred aboard E-2 when hydrogen gas was ignited by a spark. The explosion and subsequent fire killed four crewmen and injured seven others. She was placed out of commission for two years.

E-2 was recomissioned and went on to make four war patrols during WWI.

Four men killed. 18 survivors.
