World War II

Fifty two submarines were lost during World War II. The bulk of these losses were due to enemy action and are listed elsewhere on this web site, as well as being well documented in many other places. Other losses were due to wartime conditions of radio silence or blackout. The accidents listed here occurred during training or other normal operations, and were not directly related to wartime operations:
